“When I think of Easton’s Cause, there are a few words that come to mind. But the one word that stands out to me is Community. Community is defined as a feeling of fellowship with others due to sharing common attitudes, interests, and goals. I have worked with Easton’s Cause for 14 years, since the organization started in 2011 - we came together to rally behind Easton’s dad and family as they navigated every parents worst nightmare: the untimely death of a child. Easton’s Cause not only brought the community out to support, but they formed a community amongst themselves that is unlike any other. I have watched this organization grow year by year over the last 14 years and I believe wholeheartedly in their mission. I have heard over and over again how Easton’s Cause has shown up for families and individuals in need. But it wasn’t until 2019, however; that I got to feel the strength, caring, and full force of love this community of individuals has brought forth. The first person I reached out to when we got my mom’s cancer diagnosis was Lindsey and there was absolutely no hesitation on her behalf to say, “How can we help?”. And in the moment, all I could think of was the fiscal toll this was going to take on my family with both my dad and I working modified hours and the trips to and from Sheboygan. All I managed to come up with was, “Gas cards would be helpful.” and that’s EXACTLY what Easton’s Cause provided. But what I wasn’t expecting was the bond I had formed over 8 years of volunteering to unfold into something amazing. The people who I had supported, turned around and opened their arms for me to find a safe haven in the darkest moments of my life. Lindsey has stayed up with me countless nights, messaging me, and showing up in ways I didn’t know I needed. The community that Easton’s Cause has created is one that cannot be replaced - and it is so very needed. This once small charity has grown into something bigger - a community full of people who respect each other, care so deeply about those they help, and try every day to live out their mission in honor of sweet Easton.”
